What does the metadata cleaner remove?
Images can carry information that is invisible to viewers, including camera details, editing software, capture time and GPS coordinates. This task is also commonly described as a photo metadata remover, EXIF cleaner, metadata stripper or delete image metadata tool. The tool shows readable fields before cleanup.
When you clean the image, the browser re-encodes visible pixels into a new file instead of copying ordinary metadata containers. The result is scanned again and compared with the source.
This targets file metadata. Invisible pixel-level watermarking systems are a separate layer from EXIF and XMP.
Why inspect metadata before sharing an image?
An image file can carry more than the pixels you see. It may include phone or camera details, capture time, editing software, GPS coordinates or XMP workflow fields.
Inspecting first shows what would actually leave your device. If those fields are unnecessary for sharing, create a separate cleaned copy and keep the original for archives or rights.
What does cleanup target?
- Ordinary EXIF fields such as Make, Model and DateTimeOriginal when readable.
- Ordinary GPS coordinates associated with where the photo was captured.
- XMP and editing-software fields that are unnecessary in the sharing copy.
- File-level metadata containers that are not carried into the newly encoded output.

How do you know cleanup worked?
After the new copy is created, the tool scans again and shows the new size, format and remaining readable signals.
